In the St Margaret’s primary school, learning is at the heart of all we do and learning contexts are created to engage, inspire and challenge the girls in order to optimise achievement across all domains of learning. There is a commitment to exemplary teaching and to empowering students to set and monitor their own learning through reflection, goal setting and feedback.
Teachers know that the best learning occurs at a point of challenge and they employ evidence-based, high-impact teaching strategies to actively engaged students in learning that moves them from surface level to deep and then deeper levels of thinking.
The teaching and learning programs in the primary school are informed by the Australian Curriculum with the following subjects being studied from Prep:
- History and Geography (Years P – 2)
- History, Geography and Civics and Citizenship (Years 3 – 6)
- History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Business and Economics (Years 5 – 6)
- Health and Physical Education
- The Arts – Music and Visual Art
- Modern Languages
St Margaret’s students also engage with studies in Religious and Values Education and participate in a Pastoral Care Programs.
