A toast to St Margaret's

On Friday 13 March, more than 600 St Margaret’s mothers, past students and staff were fortunate to have gathered at South Brisbane’s The Greek Club for the St Margaret’s 125th Anniversary Women’s Luncheon, hosted by the P&F Association.

Comedian and TV personality Mel Buttle (’99) hosted the event which was an opportunity for St Margaret’s women to celebrate the school’s milestone occasion, its 125th anniversary. Earlier this year, Mel was named a St Margaret’s Notable, joining 124 other St Margaret’s Old Girls honoured for their significant personal and career achievements.

Principal Ms Ros Curtis said the 125th celebration was a testament to the school’s strong sisterhood and dedication to young women’s education.

“It was wonderful to see over six hundred current mothers, past mothers and former students come from all corners of Australia to join us in celebrating St Margaret’s 125th milestone,” Ms Curtis said.

“Not only were we able to pay homage the school’s legacy, the luncheon gave our past and present women a chance to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.”

Sister Gillian was in attendance representing the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent for this special anniversary and together, she and Ms Curtis cut the 125 Year Celebration Cake created by Sheridan Half Baked Catery.

The event attracted media coverage by The Courier Mail, The Sunday Mail, Indulge Magazine and Queensland Country Life.

A special thanks to the significant efforts of Anthea Damman and Angela Pratt, who led the organisation of the luncheon supported by many parent volunteers who assisted on the day.

The event raised over $40,000 which will benefit St Margaret’s students. We thank our generous sponsors and raffle prize donors for making this possible.
