St Margaret's art student receives State award

Year 12 visual art student Ayla Newman was recently recognised for her outstanding artistic talents receiving a 2017 Creative Generation Excellence Award in Visual Art.

The State Government's Creative Generation Awards recognise excellence in senior visual art education across Queensland.

Ayla was one of just 31 Excellence Award recipients in the State; an incredible feat given there were over 500 submissions from 192 schools.

Ayla's artwork, a painting titled 'Diana', will be on display at the Gallery of Modern Art in early 2018. The exhibition is the only collective exhibition of senior student artwork to be held in the Queensland Art Gallery/ Gallery of Modern Art from each region of Queensland and is considered to be a significant achievement for senior visual art students with widespread recognition for work of an exceptional standard.

Congratulations, Ayla!
