A Welcome from the St Margaret's Principal, Ros Curtis
Hello, I’m Ros Curtis and I have had the great privilege of serving St Margaret’s as Principal since 2011.
Much has changed in that time, and as educators, our role is to change with the times to prepare our students for their best futures.
At St Margaret’s this means attracting the best possible staff and equipping them with the best professional development opportunities to keep them abreast with contemporary thinking and pedagogy.
It means developing the best programs and innovating for the future that our students will meet. I’m proud to say that our programs have won multiple awards for innovation and student engagement.
And all of this must be supported by the best facilities to bring help bring out the best in our students and give them every opportunity for an enriched student experience – whether that’s in the classroom in our modern and well-equipped science labs or collaborative lecture theatre, in the sporting arena across the 19 sports we offer. Whether on land or in or on the water– our sporting facilities support students’ health and wellbeing as well as those with representative aspirations at the highest level. In the arts, our well-resourced and spacious contemporary art studios inspire our artists, while music and drama are well catered for, with exciting plans to open a magnificent performing arts centre in the near future.
But beyond our people, programs and facilities, is the sense of community at St Margaret’s. When you ask people what they love about St Margaret’s, their first answer is almost always ‘the community’. Our community spirit is nurtured through respectful relationships and is underpinned by our values and the philosophy of our founding sisters who sought to provide an education for the whole child which would provide them with every opportunity to learn, to grow, to serve and to thrive into the future.
