Sally Kehoe

Sally Kehoe discovered the sport of rowing in Year 8 at St Margaret's and, since then, has become one of Australia's most successful female rowers, competing at Beijing (2008), London (2012) and Rio de Janeiro (2016) Olympic Games.  

Sally's international rowing career began in Year 12 at St Margaret's when she represented Australia at the Junior World Championships, winning gold. Since this championship, Sally continued to move through the ranks of the national team winning her first World Championship medal as an 18 year old, an achievement well ahead of her years. Also, during her rowing career, Sally won a record number of national championships in various boat classes and represented Queensland at the Interstate National Championships, becoming champion a record-breaking five times. To this day, Sally also remains the World Record holder for the women’s double scull.

Since retiring from rowing in 2016 after a crippling back injury, Sally has continued her career in banking and finance outside of sport. While rowing full time, Sally successfully completed Bachelor and Master qualifications in economics and finance, providing her the education and experience required to excel in the corporate world post sport. Sally currently works as a Senior Product Manager - Home Lending at Macquarie Group.

As a now transitioned athlete, Sally reflects often on the lessons learnt from sport and applies them to life everyday, particularly in the work environment. Although she was unable to finish her career with an Olympic medal, the experiences, the wins, the losses and the injuries have formed her resilient character and makes her appreciate the journey and be in the moment more than ever before.
