St Margaret's students joined in the celebration of love on Valentine’s Day by joining in the national Library Lovers’ Day initiative.
Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the annual Library Lovers’ Day is focused on honouring libraries, librarians, book lovers and lovers of libraries and encourages library users to reconnect with their local library.
St Margaret’s Head of E Learning and Research Ms Alison Scott said students were encouraged to go on a ‘blind date with a book’ in the week leading up to and on Valentine’s Day.
“Instead of choosing a book, students borrowed a book wrapped in brown paper, red string and love hearts accompanied by a heart shaped lollipop. They couldn’t see what the book was, hence the ‘blind date with a book’ concept.
“We’ve had a fantastic response from the girls with approximately 200 books loaned to students this week,” said Ms Scott.
The students also celebrated with lunchtime activities including a bake sale, gifting roses to friends and sharing in music and fun.
