St Margaret's teacher receives prestigious award

St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School’s Assistant Head of Primary - Curriculum, Kate Frewin, has been recognised among Australia’s most outstanding educators.

Featured on The Educator’s 2025 Hot List, Kate is honoured as an educator who has made significant contributions and elevated education standards.

Inspired to become an educator by her parents who were both teachers, Kate says what she finds most rewarding about her role is the opportunity to collaborate with innovative educators and to influence learning at scale.

“At St Margaret’s, I’m fortunate to work alongside leaders and educators who are deeply committed to making a difference in girls’ lives. Seeing thoughtful curriculum design and evidence-informed teaching translate into stronger student outcomes across the school is deeply fulfilling,” Kate said.

One of the ways in which Kate achieves this impact is through a data informed, student-centred approach that supports sustained growth and success. She leads the facilitation of collaborative data analysis processes, enabling educators to engage critically with assessment results to identify learning needs and tailor instruction accordingly.

She has also led the development of the primary school’s Instructional Toolkit, which is grounded in cognitive science principles designed to maximise student outcomes and engagement.

Both honoured and humbled to be named on the Hot List, Kate said: “It’s truly a reflection of the incredibly collegial culture we have at St Margaret’s and the collective efforts of the educators with whom I have the privilege of working.

“It’s wonderfully affirming to have our approach to curriculum and teaching acknowledged nationally – validating that the work we’re doing matters beyond our St Margaret’s community,” she said.
