St Margaret's Head of Performance in the spotlight as Influential Educator

St Margaret's Head of Performance, Mr Brad King, has been recognised as an inspirational and innovative leader and changemaker whose teaching and learning has had significant impact on St Margaret's students and the school community.

The Educator recently profiled Brad in their 2024 Most Influential Educator report:

Brad King has developed a vibrant extracurricular music program that provides a strong developmental pathway for students wishing to pursue their musical passions with opportunities across multiple musical genres. He has a strong focus on engagement and recognises the transformative power of music for all those in the school community.

A strong team of passionate music professionals who are both educators and performers has been brought together and developed under King’s leadership to ensure the best can be brought out of every student. Mentoring is an integral part of the music program with King developing scaffolded opportunities for musical relationships to develop between older, advanced students and younger, developing musicians.

King has worked consistently to support the needs of First Nations students and international students, recognising that music is a universal language that can cross cultural divides. He understands the power of performance to broaden students’ horizons and has led numerous overseas music tours where students have had unique performance opportunities, performing and connecting with musicians around the world.

King has worked collaboratively on the Anglican Schools Music Festival executive committee to bring students and staff together to rehearse and perform with renowned conductors. He has also been instrumental in providing pathways for students to move from their secondary schooling into professional music careers.

We congratulate Brad on receiving this wonderful recognition.
