About Kirra Pendergast
Kirra is the Director of Safe on Social Media Pty Ltd. Kirra has had a career spanning 26 years in information security and business consulting. Kirra has provided advice to government and industry and held State Director positions
with key international firms.
In 2009 Kirra founded Australia’s first consulting company focused solely on Social Media Security, Privacy, and Risk Management. That company, KCL Business Solutions, completed a first of its kind Social Media Risk Audit/Assessment for a large Healthcare organisation (12,000+ staff). This was shortly followed by other Major Healthcare and Hospital Networks, Government Departments, and Corporate Sector businesses in QLD and across Australia.
In late 2014 she was inspired to create Safe on Social Media Pty Ltd after experiencing serious and relentless cyberbullying and trolling herself. It was crippling, but it helped her understand in great detail what young people are
exposed too. Safe on Social Media¹s purpose is to educate and support Students, Teachers, Parents and community members about the Law, Information Security, and Privacy when using Social Media. Kirra works at the intersection of Cyber Safety, Cyber Security and Wellbeing.
Since 2015 Kirra has presented to more than 300,000 students, teachers and parents at over 450 schools across Australia and NZ and at countless legal seminars, government and business events and conferences.
Kirra is a Certified Training provider for the Office of the Commissioner for eSafety.
