The 2009 QGSSSA Athletics Championships held at QSAC on Friday 16 October saw St Margaret's win the Del Mellifont Percentage Cup (most points per student population) for the 8th year in a row.
This year has seen the girls at St Margaret's have to work harder than ever to maintain this phenomenal record with the assistance of Head Coach Eric Brown. With a strong challenge from Ipswich Girls Grammar, at the half way point the trophy looked as if it was going to have a new home for 2009. However, a strong finish to the day by the field athletes, 800m runners and the relay teams helped get the girls across the line.
Winning girls on the day included;
Holly Hoskins - 16 Years 400m & 800m Div A
Grace Harris - 14 Years High Jump
Katelyn Sheterline - 14 Years Shot Put Div B
Kaitlyn McCall - 16 Years Shot Put Div A
Kate Savage - 15 Years & Under Triple Jump
Emily Covignton - 16 Years 800m Div B
Another achievement was set by this win - the Year 12 cohort has held all three Percentage Cup trophies for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics, for their entire time at St Margaret's - that's five years straight!
